In doing so we act as a valuable catalyst for culture and economic opportunity. Within the Aurora family, the Sweet Salone project in Sierra Leone brings new ideas and new work to a global market by linking local artisans with international designers.

    Do you have the skills and experience to manage this process, working as the first point of contact with a wide variety of talented artisans as they produce a range of different goods?     Ensure essential quality control and work with international designers

    The purpose of this role is to run the Sweet Salone project, working closely with the international designers and forming a bridge between the designers and the local artisans. At the heart of this process is quality control and a key focus is to ensure the consistent, high-quality production of goods through detailed inspection and documentation. You are also responsible for managing the team members working on the Sweet Salone project at the Aurora Foundation and you liaise with both international and local stakeholders to ensure the correct preparation, documentation and international shipment of goods.

    Your detailed daily tasks include:

    • Inventory management;
    • Monitoring project performance with respect to quality, time and cost; 
    • Data collection and project evaluation;
    • Conducting research and proposing process improvements;
    • Communicating project status via monthly and quarterly reports to the Executive Director, writing donor reports when necessary.

    At all times you seek to establish and maintain relationships with other stakeholders and contribute to the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Sierra Leone.

    To succeed in this position you need to be a versatile professional who has gained an understanding of the different elements of project management. You also bring outstanding intercultural and communication skills, along with an advanced ability to work independently at different phases of each project.

    Of course, you will face all the challenges related to living in a developing country such as power cuts, breaks in connectivity, fuel shortages and cultural differences. But embracing these ups and downs is all part of the experience. And what could be more satisfying than overcoming them so that you bring the vision and creativity of Sierra Leonean artisans to a global audience?

    The more formal requirements are:

    • MSc degree in (international) business, project management, supply chain management or a related field;
    • 5 years of relevant work experience;
    • Problem solver with a real eye for detail;
    • Fluent in written and spoken English;
    • Willing to relocate to Sierra Leone for the job.
