Samskip is expanding internationally, and to support this growth, we seek a mid-career Business Controller with a strong background in performance management and a talent for influencing senior stakeholders. You’ll play a key role in shaping financial strategy, leading change, and delivering meaningful insights that drive results.
At our Rotterdam headquarters, you’ll join a larger finance and business control team, collaborating with fellow controllers, accounting professionals, and business leaders. You report to the Head of Business Control and act as a trusted advisor to regional and local management.
Job Summary:
You’ll work independently and collaboratively, engaging across multiple countries and departments. You are expected to understand company sensitivities, offer clear financial guidance, and build trust with leadership in a multicultural business environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a business partner to senior management across trade regions.
- Deliver insightful financial analysis and challenge assumptions to improve performance.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes.
- Monitor and drive KPIs and performance dashboards.
- Provide business cases and scenario analysis to support strategic decisions.
- Improve and harmonize financial processes across systems and entities.
- Support the rollout and adoption of tools such as SAP, Power BI, and OneStream.
- Lead and support initiatives that drive change and increase transparency.
- Navigate organizational sensitivities and foster alignment across teams.
Requirements:
- University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or similar.
- 5–8 years of experience in business control, preferably in an international or logistics setting.
- Strong performance management background and ability to challenge and support business decisions.
- Independent and proactive with strong influencing skills.
- Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
- Experience with Power BI, Excel, and preferably SAP S4 Hanna and OneStream.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financials into actionable business insights.
- Able to work effectively in a matrixed and cross-cultural environment.
