Are you an experienced Business Development Manager, who enjoys building strategic relationships with customers and bring them to the next level? As a Business Development Manager at Samskip, you will have the opportunity to work for one of Europe’s largest providers of multimodal transport. Samskip offers her customers a wide variety of solutions by sea, rail, river and road across a wide European geographical scope. We facilitate international trade by bringing thousands of products to the market varying from chemicals, paper, food, beer, wine to bricks to build homes, kitchens to prepare your meals in and furniture to decorate your homes with. There is never a dull moment in transport, let alone when you are selling it. You will not only need to gain an understanding of buying patterns, supply chains, customer behavior and seasonality in cargo flows, but also how our network operates, how this compares to competition and how market rates compare between different geographic regions.
As Business Development Manager you are responsible for pro-active hunting for new opportunities, transfer them into concrete business opportunities and onboard them into the Samskip organization.
Besides that, you are strong in networking and build- and maintain relationships with potential clients as well as internal stakeholders like Trade, Customer Service, Operations and Finance.
You report directly to our Sales Manager Region West based in Rotterdam and as such you are also expected to provide relevant market insights, competition intelligence and updates on the business development pipeline via relevant sales tools such as CRM.
Responsibilities:
- Identify Business Opportunities to increase sales and profitability
- Build and Maintain Relationships which convert into actual business
- Developing Growth Strategies based on Samskip campaigns
- Work on Sales and Lead Generation and build a strong pipeline with potentials
- Report on a frequent basis with the business development updates
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Develop innovative and valuable solutions for potential clients
Your primary focus will be to perform customer visits to potential new clients and build your network. We expect our Business Development Manager to be on the road by 3 Days of the Week. You will build relationships with all relevant stakeholders and meet new clients while out on the road, during fairs or events. With your excellent interpersonal skills and thorough knowledge of our entire product and service offering you will succeed in bringing home new clients.
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience in a similar position in the transport industry
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the sales process conversation techniques.
- Ability to identify potential customers and convert opportunities into tangible orders
- Result- and solution-oriented.
- Relationship builder.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Leading by example and develop by honest coaching.
- Professional and responsible with high ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Fluent written and spoken Dutch, English & preferably German
- You enjoy taking the initiative.
- A driven self-starter always on the lookout to expand your network and increase the order book.
- You hate losing a deal: “no” is not an option with your winning mentality.
