With a turnover of more than 633 million euros, 1500 employees and offices in 24 countries (in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia), Samskip is one of the largest transport companies in Europe.

Working in a world that literally never stands still!

Every week, our Transport Planners plan several thousand transport routes using our multimodal transport, consisting of road, rail and barge transport. This is as cost-efficient and reliable as possible, for us and our customers.

Where will you work as Supervisor Inland Operations?

The Transport Planning department is your domain: you lead a team of 5 team members, part of the team is in a remote location(s), and you strive for optimal productivity and efficiency. You are jointly responsible for our door-to-door intermodal shipment activities. The activities spread between the continent (mainly Germany, Benelux and France) and Sweden, where your team is responsible for 50,000 transports per year, using both own trucks as well as third party suppliers.

What are you going to do?

As a Supervisor Inland Operations, you are aware of everything. Because of you, our customers get the best solution at the lowest possible cost. You achieve this by ensuring the execution of orders in accordance with customer requirements, being the first point of contact for solving ad-hoc issues and realizing optimal and most efficient cooperation within the team between the various modalities.

    Responsibilities:
    • collaborating with other departments (especially customer service, trade, sales and purchasing) on projects for new customers or products, acting as the transport expert.
    • monitoring and measuring supplier performance through KPIs and on the basis of this develop initiatives to improve it together with the suppliers.
    • implementing cost-effective strategies and improving our service procedures based on data analysis and meaningful KPI’s (on-time performance, rescheduling performance, cost per kilometer).
    • implementing and continuously improving software and processes, in collaboration with project groups and the Processes and IT departments.
    • maintaining daily contact with business partners and suppliers, visiting them regularly to improve processes.
The supervisor who is successful in this? We like to describe it that way.

Because you are responsible for the performance of your team, we are looking for an experienced team leader who motivates and encourages others. You understand that a good division of tasks is crucial to be able to provide the best service and you always know how to maintain an eagle view in stressful, changing situations. Switching is key, both in your team and with customers. That is why we think it is important that you have strong communication skills, come up with fresh ideas and use our software to optimize our way of working.

    Requirements:
    • A bachelor's degree in logistics management and/or relevant working experience.
    • Leadership experience, preferably in a logistics environment.
    • Interested in using software to improve processes and our ways of working.
    • Preferably fluent command of the Dutch, English and German language (is a plus), in connection with our international customers
Working at Samskip means planning your own route.

A career in transportation planning is stimulating and challenging and will leave you feeling energized. You participate in new inland transport projects, expand your knowledge, and network, and develop yourself professionally and personally. You can just plan your own route, because you get a lot of responsibility, fill in your role independently and get the opportunity to broaden your career horizontally, vertically, and internationally.
